Welded containers and container bodies to drawing

A welded steel container body to the customer's drawing: a closed box with corrugated walls, a roof and end doors on corner castings; a half-height unit; an open-top body with stiffeners and rear doors; a roll-off body with a hook front; a shell left open at one end or one side for what goes inside it. Standard container dimensions are the usual starting point, but the drawing decides.

The gallery holds container bodies of three, six and twelve metres.

What the drawing must show

A part like this is priced from the drawing. The quotation is fastest when it carries:

  • The outer dimensions and whether the corner castings and the floor height follow a standard container
  • Wall, roof and floor sheet thicknesses with the material grade, and the corrugation profile
  • Doors, hatches, openings and their hardware
  • Weld symbols on the frame and the sheet seams, and whether the body must be watertight
  • The finish inside and outside, and the colour

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 058 x 2 438 x 2 591 mm

A closed container built from corrugated side and roof sheet on a folded box section frame, with corner castings at every edge and a pair of locking end doors. The doors carry vertical locking bars with cam keepers and hinges, set into a stiffened door frame. It measures about 6.1 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.6 m high. Parts like this are tacked up on a fixture and welded through, then blasted and painted in the booths on site.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 359 x 2 438 x 2 813 mm

A roll-off container body is a closed box of corrugated steel sheet on a channel base frame, with ribbed side walls, a slatted roof and roller skids under the rear corners. An upright hook frame with its hook bar sits on the front wall, standing out against the plain corrugated skin. It measures about 6.4 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.8 m high. Such a part is set on a fixture, tacked and welded out, then finished in the blasting and paint booths on site.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 058 x 2 448 x 2 438 mm

A pair of half-height container units stacked on their corner castings, built from corrugated side walls, a plate roof with round ports and folded capping rails. The lower unit has an open end, showing floor framing and a header beam. Overall size is about 6.1 by 2.4 by 2.4 m. Pieces like this are tacked up on a fixture and welded through.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 901 x 2 508 x 2 651 mm

A container body made from folded steel plate, with sloped, ribbed side skirts, a flat lipped top edge and a sturdy rear frame around an open bay. Stiffening ribs run along both sides, with pad eyes, lifting brackets and a hinged rear frame standing out. It measures about 6.9 m long, 2.5 m wide and 2.7 m high. Such parts are folded on the press brake and welded on the 14 m robotic track for a series, by hand for a one-off.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 305 x 2 559 x 2 805 mm

An open-top container body made from flat side and base plate, with vertical external stiffener ribs running the full height down into skid feet. Rear double doors with hinge lugs and a locking bar close one end, a folded top rail edges the open mouth, and a side ladder gives access. It measures about 6.3 m long, 2.6 m wide and 2.8 m high. Such a part is welded out on a fixture.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 058 x 2 438 x 2 600 mm

A roll-off container body built from corrugated side sheet, a flat plate roof and a welded box frame with corner castings at each end. A round bolted hatch sits in the roof, with a ladder and end guides visible at the rear door frame. It measures about 6.1 by 2.4 m and stands about 2.6 m high. A part like this is bent on the 400 t press brake and run on the 14 m robotic welding track when the batch allows.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 058 x 2 438 x 1 219 mm

A half-height container unit built from corrugated side wall sheeting, a flat sheet roof panel and a welded base frame with corner castings at all eight corners. One end stands open, showing the floor cross members and end frame inside, while the other end is fully closed and plated. It measures about 6.1 by 2.4 m and stands roughly 1.2 m high. A part like this is tack welded on a fixture and welded out, then blasted and painted before shipping.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 058 x 2 438 x 2 591 mm

A container shell like this is built from corrugated side walls and a corrugated roof panel, framed by a rigid base and top rail with corner castings at every edge. One end is left fully open, with no doors or end frame fitted, showing the plain floor plate inside. It measures about 6.1 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.6 m high. Parts like this are welded by hand or on the 14 m robotic welding track, with the bores and pads machined after welding.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    12 192 x 2 438 x 2 596 mm

A long container shell built from corrugated side plate and a corrugated roof, closed at one end and fully open at the other, with corner posts and corner castings at each edge. The open end exposes a flat floor and frame, with folded corrugation running the full length of sides and roof. It measures about 12.2 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.6 m high. A part like this is welded out on a fixture.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    6 407 x 2 418 x 2 382 mm

A container body made from folded steel plate, with angled skirt panels at each top corner and an open rear end. Vertical ribs divide the sides into panels, each with a horizontal fold line running its length, and the open back shows a sloped floor inside. It measures about 6.4 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.4 m high. Such parts are folded on the 400 t press brake and run on the 14 m robotic welding track when the batch allows.

  • Overall size, L x W x H
    2 991 x 2 468 x 2 617 mm

A compact container shell takes shape from a corner-post frame, a flat plate roof and a flat plate floor, with corrugated steel sheeting closing one end and one side. Corner castings mark all eight corners, while the long side and the opposite end stand fully open, showing the bare floor plate inside. It measures about 3.0 m long, 2.5 m wide and 2.6 m high. Such a part is welded out on a fixture, then blasted and painted in house.

Each model is rendered from its own geometry in raw steel, without paint, and is shown as a still. Customer names, machine designations and drawing numbers are not published; part lists and files are not offered. The interactive model above this section is a parametric example, not one of these.

How a part like this goes through the hall

Frame members are cut and the sheets laser cut on a 2 000 x 4 000 mm bed and folded on a 400 t press brake over 6 050 mm. The base frame is welded first on a jig, the walls and roof are welded to it, and doors and hardware are fitted. A body of up to twelve metres is blasted and painted in sections in the booths on site and measured before it leaves.
